Iyengar Yoga is a powerful and sophisticated discipline that can be practiced in all stages of life. The benefits are far-reaching and will assist the practitioner in every aspect of daily living. Iyengar yoga is a form of hatha yoga with a much more thorough approach to the poses (asanas) as they are held for longer periods to build strength and stamina.

 Iyengar yoga helps to:

  2. Alleviate postural/structural problems

  3. Release emotional tension

  4. Increase focus and concentration

  6. Reconnect with your body and breath

All bodies are unique and have different strengths and weaknesses that should be honored and respected. Iyengar yoga utilizes props such as blocks, chairs, belts, and blankets to help students gain the correct alignment to ensure asanas can be practiced safely and harmoniously. This attention to alignment means it can be very therapeutic for people with postural issues as well as many different ailments including chronic pain, insomnia, and depression.
